Foretelling The Future of Business

Throughout history mankind has been fascinated with the future.

Today is no different. We have countless books, movies, tv shows and even cartoons that try to predict the future.

People and companies pay billions of dollars to ones that they believe can forecast the future. Companies like Apple pay millions to forecast whether or not a new product will be successful in the marketplace and financial analyst like Warren Buffett have been called Oracles or Wizards for their ability to forecast which companies will be successful and which ones will fail. While many of men’s forecasts have come true, others have failed, some miserably. For example, in 1912, the inventor of a wireless telegraph, was quoted as predicting: “The coming of the wireless era will make war impossible.” Two years later WW1 broke making his prediction horribly inaccurate. A record company agent who rejected the Beatles in 1962, believed that guitar-playing groups were on the way out. We know how his prediction turned out.

The same is true of Fortune Tellers and Astrologist. Many times their predictions are so vague anything they say could be true.

Everyday we make decisions small and large that effect our future. What should I study in school? Should I marry or buy a home? Should I move to another location? All of these decisions have tremendous effects on our future and the future of our families.  So what do we do? We research, plan, schedule or ask others in order to make wise decisions.

Is there somewhere we can turn for predictions about the future that are always 100% accurate? More to come…
